It is hard to argue with Chicago's success with 6 titles in 8 years.

Those Lakers won three titles in three years only when Duncan's knee was giving him problems (Duncan did not play in 2000 because of major knee surgery, and his knee gave out on him in both the 2001 and 2002 playoffs where the young mid 20 something Duncan looked like the old Patrick Ewing in his last year with the Knicks where Ewing could barely run up and down the court. The same thing happened with Duncan and his knee problem in the 2001 and 2002 playoffs).

When Duncan's knee was healthy, he led the Spurs to defeat the Shaq-Kobe-Horry Lakers in a 4-0 sweep over the Lakers in 1999 and a 2003 playoff victory over those same Lakers, so those Lakers were stoppable when Duncan had a healthy knee.

I think that the Duncan led Spurs and 4 titles since 1999 is pretty remarkable.

Those numbers are not the numbers of someone with a knee problem. Tim Duncan carried that team through the season and playoffs on his back. Juwon Howard knocked Derek Anderson out in the Dallas series with a flagrant foul. Losing the team's #2 scorer did the Spurs in for the next series with the Lakers.

His playoff averages were 27.6 points and 14.4 rebounds. He was the league's #1 rebounder. Again not the numbers of someone with a knee problem. Tim's father died during the round 1 series with the Sonics. He missed time taking care of burying his father in the Virgin Islands. That series was won but for the next round David Robinson was out. He only played 4 games during the playoffs.

There was nothing wrong with Duncan in 01 or 02. He carried those teams. The Spurs may have been knocked out of the playoffs but it wasn't because of Tim Duncan.
I believe that in time the cavs will do it. Lebron is probably the best all around player in the league, hughes is a mighty dfender, varejoa is the guy that can get rebound and block shot over anyone regardless of how big they are. What they need is another potent scorer with a mcgrady, kobe-like skills that is not a ball hog, and I believe 2 or 3 years down the line theyll get it.
